It’s a genuinely good alternative to the more child-focused South Kensington museums if you’re travelling as a couple or without kids, though the museum does a good job of engaging families too with trails and activity guides for younger visitors. Entry to the permanent collection is free, with ticketed special exhibitions running throughout the year — worth checking what’s on before you visit, as the V&A hosts some genuinely major shows. It sits alongside the Natural History and Science Museums in South Kensington, making it easy to combine into a single museum-focused day if the weather calls for it. Reachable from Shepherd’s Bush in around 25–30 minutes via the Circle or District line — a straightforward addition to any Cogan’s Place stay.
