It’s not curated for tourists, which is precisely the appeal. Go hungry and try something you can’t get on a chain restaurant menu.
Independent coffee and food
The streets immediately around the market and toward Uxbridge Road are dense with small, family-run cafés and restaurants. Prices are noticeably lower than anything inside Westfield, and the quality is often better — this is the kind of area where a “hidden gem” recommendation from a local actually means something, rather than being the fifth stop on a listicle.
A quieter side of the neighbourhood
Step a few streets back from the main roads and Shepherd’s Bush turns properly residential — Victorian terraces, quiet garden squares, and the kind of streets our own apartments sit on. Football fans will want to swing past Loftus Road, home of QPR, a short walk from Cogan’s Place. Even outside of match days, it’s a good marker for the more local, less polished side of the area.
