One of the quieter advantages of staying in Shepherd’s Bush is that you don’t need to think very hard about transport. It’s genuinely one of the better-connected corners of London, and Cogan’s Place sits close enough to the station that getting around becomes a non-issue rather than a daily logistics project.
The Central Line is your workhorse
From Shepherd’s Bush Underground station, the Central Line runs straight into the West End — Oxford Circus, Bond Street, Holborn — in around 15 to 20 minutes, no changes required. For a first-time visitor, this single line covers a surprising amount of what you actually came to London to see.
Overground and National Rail for everything else
Shepherd’s Bush also has its own Overground station and sits near Shepherd’s Bush Market station on the Hammersmith & City and Circle lines. Between the three, you’ve got fast routes north, south, and into the City without ever needing a taxi. If you’re arriving from Heathrow, the Elizabeth line and Piccadilly line both connect through with one change.
On foot, for the first two minutes at least
You won’t need transport at all for the basics. Westfield London, Shepherd’s Bush Green and the market are all within a two-minute walk of Cogan’s Place, so your day can genuinely start on foot before you pick up the tube for anything further afield.
Buses, if you’re not in a rush
Shepherd’s Bush is also a solid bus hub if you’d rather see the city above ground — routes run toward Hammersmith, Notting Hill and Kensington, useful for slower sightseeing days or for getting kids somewhere without navigating stairs and escalators.

Pick up a contactless-compatible card (or just tap your bank card) at any station — no need to queue for paper tickets. And because you’re staying two minutes from three separate transport links, there’s rarely a reason to book a taxi anywhere within Zone 1 or 2.
