London weather changes its mind more than once a day, whatever the season. A few thin layers you can add and remove beat one heavy coat every time — a waterproof outer layer, a jumper, and something breathable underneath covers almost every scenario. Pack for “changeable,” not for a single forecast.
Proper walking shoes, non-negotiable
You’ll walk further than you expect, even with the Central Line two minutes from the door. Cobbled side streets, tube stairs, and long museum floors add up fast — comfortable, broken-in shoes matter more than almost anything else on this list.
A reusable water bottle
Tap water is safe and free across London, and refilling beats buying bottled water at tourist prices near every major attraction. Our kitchen is fully stocked, so fill up before you head out each morning.
Portable charger and UK adapter
A day of maps, photos and transport apps drains a phone fast. A portable charger is one of the smallest, most-used items on any city trip — and don’t forget a UK plug adapter if you’re travelling from outside the UK; sockets here are the three-pin type.
What you don’t need
Skip the full first-aid kit and the pile of snacks — both apartments are a two-minute walk from Westfield’s supermarket and pharmacy options, so restocking mid-trip is easy. Same goes for towels and basic toiletries; we provide those, so leave the space in your case for souvenirs instead.
For families specifically
If you’re travelling with kids, pack a few quiet activities for the evenings — our living rooms are set up for relaxing together after a full day out, and a deck of cards or a favourite book goes a long way after a long day of sightseeing.
One local tip
Bring a proper bag for the day, not just a phone in a pocket — between museum leaflets, market finds and the odd umbrella purchase, you’ll want somewhere to put it all by mid-afternoon.
